![]() My Fiber Lifestyle A visit to my house usually catches me either with the dye pots going full blast, spinning, or doing something with the animals. I am not known for being a "Susie Homemaker" That was my previous life. Before moving to the farm I was always canning or freezing something. I use to enter jams, jellies etc at the local fair; I even have one of my recipes in a published cookbook. I would win tons of ribbons, now instead of canning and winning ribbons for that I show my animals and fiber products. I grew up in a small town and knew nothing about animals; the extent of my knowledge of animals was having a dog as a pet while growing up. My things have changed over the past 10 years. My husband gets fed, as do the cirtters, his clothing is kept washed. We do find some time to at lest talk, with both of us working full time jobs off the farm, babysitting the grandkids a few days a week, there is never a dull moment at our place.
I have been spinning for about 8 years and have been knitting for about as long. I have entered my handspun and my finished garments in several shows and have won many ribbons.
Our Specialty I specialize in 50% wool/50% mohair blends of handspun yarn and ready to spin hand dyed, hand blended carded "clouds". The dying is done by me and the carding and hand blending is done by Quail Hill Carding in Wisconsin. I also hand dye commercially prepared wool and mohair roving and brushed mohair yarns. While mohair blends are my specialty, in my booth you will also find boiled wool hats, finished garments, sweaters, vests, raw fibers, wool, mohair, llama, sheep and goat skins, goats milk soap and much more.
